The Logan museum and surrounding properties are on the original Logan Farm land. Many of the homes were built in the late 1800s and also survived the 1925 tornado that destroyed much of the area and killed over a 1000 people. Be sure to visit the Hughes Gallery and the Illinois tourism center next to the museum.

I never knew Murphysboro had anything this nice. The museum has recently acquired about 10 buildings which it will be incorporating into the museum within the next few years. This is no small-town, low quality museum. It isn't the Smithsonian, but its a decent place.
